Bolt , the Estonia-based ride-hailing company, formally called Taxify made its entrance into Nigeria with its ride-hailing service in 2016 and has grown to become a leading ride-hailing service in the country. In January, Bolt made a few announcements; a new feature that lets users add a few extra stops to their ride, appointment of a new country manager – Femi Akin-Laguda, and the launch of its tricycle-hailing service. Bolt’s decision to venture into the tricycle-hailing market didn’t come as a surprise to many as tricycle-hailing is becoming more popular around the country — a safer and cheaper option when trying to navigate traffic compared to motorbikes and taxis....

Truecaller, best known for its anti-spam feature has aggressively been looking to expand its business . The service, which offers both ad-support free tier and subscription bundle, has added messaging , mobile payments , and call recording features in recent years. Earlier this year, it also added a crediting option, allowing users in India to borrow a few hundred dollars. With effect from 1 July 2018, as according to the tax proposals contained in the Excise Duty Act of 2018, “A tax of 1 0.5 per cent of the value of the transaction will apply on mobile money transactions on receiving money, sending money, making payments and withdrawals of money”. Vodafone Uganda customers have been on a panic following consistent network outages and hearing rumours of the Telecom’s exit from the Ugandan market. Launched in late 2014, the telecom operator which is licensed under Afrimax but trades with the Vodafone brand has been offering competitive voice and mobile internet services. In fact, three years ago, Vodafone had the best unlimited internet package in the market according to this blog. But we can not say that now, can we?...

Have you been experiencing network outages with Vodafone Uganda and hoping a change will come so soon? Wait a little longer. The latest developments spell it out that the Civil Division of the High court of Uganda has appointed a Provisional Administrator Manager, Mr. Donald Nyakairu, to be in charge of restructuring and reorganizing the company in a bid to improve commercial and operational efficiencies. This will be in addition to an interim protective order granted to Afrimax, the holding company of the Vodafone brand in Uganda, for a period of three months....

Now we know Vodafone has branded itself as a 4G LTE network ever since it entered the Ugandan Telecom market. The network has since released a number of services on its premium network, including voice services , both capped and unlimited internet data plans and 4G LTE USB dongles and Mi-Fis . The network according to 4G LTE speed tests done by local Tech blog Techjaja doesn’t quite stack up well against the likes of MTN and Africell Uganda....
