Wireless earbuds are becoming more popular and affordable these days, thanks to the advancement of technology and the demand for convenience. One of the latest products in this category is the Oraimo Freepods 4 , a pair of true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds that promise to deliver high-quality sound, long battery life, and a comfortable fit. Set to succeed the crazy popular Freepods 3 , the Freepods 4 have big shoes to take up so, how do their fair?
In this review, we will take a closer look at the Oraimo Freepods 4 and see how they perform in terms of design, sound quality, battery life, connectivity , and other features. We will also compare them with some of their competitors such as the Apple AirPods Pro, the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro, and the Xiaomi Redmi AirDots 3 Pro and see if they are worth buying.

Design and Fit
The Oraimo Freepods 4 have a sleek and minimalist design that resembles the Apple AirPods Pro. They come in a two-tone, black-and-white color with a glossy finish and a silver Oraimo logo on each earbud. The earbuds have an ergonomic shape that fits snugly in the ears and provides good noise isolation. They also have silicone ear tips that can be replaced with different sizes to suit your preference.
The earbuds have touch controls on the stems that allow you to play/pause music, answer/reject calls, adjust the volume, activate voice assistant, and switch between three sound modes: normal, bass boost, and clear voic e. The touch controls are responsive and easy to use, but they can also be accidentally triggered if you touch them while adjusting the earbuds.

The earbuds come with a charging case that has a circular shape and a nifty, slide-out lid mechanism that is a refreshing change from the boring, rectangular takes we have in the market today. The case has four LED indicators on the front that show the battery level of the case and the earbuds. The case also has a USB-C port on the back for charging. The case is classy-looking, compact, and lightweight, making it easy to carry around.

The design of the Oraimo Freepods 4 is similar to that of the Apple AirPods Pro, but with some differences. The Oraimo Freepods 4 have a longer stem and a smaller ear tip than the AirPods Pro. The Oraimo Freepods 4 also have a more glossy finish than the AirPods Pro, which have a matte finish. The Oraimo Freepods 4 are cheaper than the AirPods Pro but have fewer features such as active noise cancellation (ANC) and a dedicated app to go with, to help you tweak the audio output to your heart’s content.
The design of the Oraimo Freepods 4 is also comparable to that of the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro and the Xiaomi Redmi AirDots 3 Pro. The Galaxy Buds Pro has a more rounded shape and a metallic finish than the Oraimo Freepods 4. The Galaxy Buds Pro also has ANC and wireless charging features that the Oraimo Freepods 4 lack. The Redmi AirDots 3 Pro has a more angular shape and a matte finish than the Oraimo Freepods 4. The Redmi AirDots 3 Pro also has ANC and wireless charging features that the Oraimo Freepods 4 lack.
Sound Quality
The Oraimo Freepods 4 have 13mm dynamic drivers that deliver clear and balanced sound across different genres of music. The earbuds have three sound modes that you can choose from depending on your preference and environment. The normal mode offers a natural and balanced sound signature that is suitable for most types of music. The bass boost mode enhances the low frequencies and adds more punch and depth to the sound. The clear voice mode boosts the mid-range frequencies and makes vocals more prominent and crisp.

The earbuds also have an environmental noise cancellation (ENC) feature that reduces background noise during calls. The earbuds have four microphones that pick up your voice clearly and filter out ambient noise. The call quality is decent and clear on both ends, but it can still be affected by external factors such as wind or traffic.
The sound quality of the Oraimo Freepods 4 is better than that of the Xiaomi Redmi AirDots 3 Pro, but not as good as that of the Apple AirPods Pro or the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro. The Redmi AirDots 3 Pro have a more bass-heavy sound signature that may overpower other frequencies. The AirPods Pro and the Galaxy Buds Pro have more balanced and detailed sound quality that can adapt to different environments with their ANC feature.
Battery Life
The Oraimo Freepods 4 have a long battery life that can last up to 6 hours on a single charge with normal mode. The charging case can provide an additional 18 hours of playback time, giving you a total of 24 hours of battery life. The earbuds also support fast charging that can give you an hour of playback time with just 10 minutes of charging.
The battery life of the earbuds can vary depending on the volume level, sound mode, and usage habits. The battery life of the case can also be affected by the temperature and humidity conditions. The earbuds have an auto-pause feature that pauses the music when you take them out of your ears and resumes it when you put them back in. This helps to conserve battery power and prevent accidental playback.

The battery life of the Oraimo Freepods 4 is longer than that of the Apple AirPods Pro or the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro, but shorter than that of the Xiaomi Redmi AirDots 3 Pro. The AirPods Pro and the Galaxy Buds Pro have a battery life of about 5 hours with ANC on and about 8 hours with ANC off. The Redmi AirDots 3 Pro have a battery life of about 7 hours with ANC on and about 9 hours with ANC off.
Connectivity
The Oraimo Freepods 4 use Bluetooth 5.0 technology that ensures stable and seamless connectivity with your devices. The earbuds have a low latency mode that reduces audio lag when watching videos or playing games. The earbuds also support dual connection that allows you to connect them to two devices simultaneously and switch between them easily.

The earbuds support Google’s Fast pairing feature that connects them to your device as soon as you open the case. The pairing process is quick and simple, but you may need to manually select the earbuds from your device’s Bluetooth settings if they are not recognized automatically. The earbuds have a wireless range of about 10 meters without any obstacles.
The connectivity of the Oraimo Freepods 4 is similar to that of the Apple AirPods Pro or the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro, but better than that of the Xiaomi Redmi AirDots 3 Pro. The AirPods Pro and the Galaxy Buds Pro have Bluetooth 5.0 technology that provides stable connectivity with low latency mode. The Redmi AirDots 3 Pro has Bluetooth 5.2 technology that provides faster connectivity but may suffer from occasional dropouts or interference.
Other Features
The Oraimo Freepods 4 have some other features that make them more convenient and user-friendly. For instance, they have an IPX5 rating that makes them resistant to water splashes and sweat. This means you can use them for workouts or outdoor activities without worrying about damaging them.
The earbuds also have an intelligent wear-detection feature that detects whether you are wearing them or not. This feature allows you to control your music playback by simply taking off or putting on one earbud. This has been hit-and-miss in my testing and I wish it was a little more refined. For example, if you take off one earbud, the music should pause. But the for me, it would randomly resume playback even before I put it back on.
The earbuds also have a voice assistant feature that lets you access your phone’s voice assistant such as Siri or Google Assistant with a simple touch, controls that can be customized from the companion app that we talked about in this post . You can use this feature to perform various tasks such as checking the weather, setting reminders, sending messages, etc.
Conclusion
The Oraimo Freepods 4 are a pair of wireless earbuds that offer a lot of features and performance for their price range. They have a sleek design, a comfortable fit, a clear sound quality, a long battery life, stable connectivity, and some other useful features that make them convenient and enjoyable to use.
They are not perfect though; they have some drawbacks such as touchy controls, average call quality, subjective sound modes, lackluster ANC or wireless charging features, fewer features than some competitors, etc. However, these are minor issues compared to their overall performance significantly.
The Freepods 4 are available across online platforms and local retailers in Kenya and other regions for KES 4500 , or $30 . (UGX120,000 , 15,000 Naira )
