Microsoft happens to be the biggest contributor to GitHub with more than 1,000 employees actively pushing code to repositories on coding site. Microsoft even hosts its own original Windows File Manager source code on GitHub. The service was last valued at $2 billion back in 2015, but it’s not clear exactly how much Microsoft has paid to acquire GitHub. While Microsoft share prices rose at the news, GitHub users are less convinced that the move would be a good idea....

Since the year started, there were talks of an interoperability program between Safaricom MPESA and AirtelMoney, the mobile money offings from the two carriers. The platform then went on testing within the respective companies and last week, we saw that final roll out. This interoperability means customers can seamlessly transfer funds from their respective mobile money services to other platforms and the funds would be reflected in their accounts. Previously, if you received funds from a different mobile money service, you would have to go look for a money agent from the sender’s network, withdraw all the funds received, look for your carrier’s money agent and deposit the said funds....

The MTN IPO is closing today at 4pm meaning the public will not be able to apply for shares starting 4:01pm. It’s reported that this network is being built in partnership with Alcatel-Lucent, the French global telecommunications equipment giant. As of 1st March 2015, MTN Uganda will be changing the codes for loading airtime and checking balance. MTN since inception has used codes 155xxxx# and *156# for loading airtime and checking balance respectively which all customers know. As per a UCC directive, all telecoms are to use the same code for loading and checking airtime balance in order to streamline services. The new codes to load airtime on MTN Uganda will be 130voucher code # and *131# to check balance....

The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has earned a total of Ushs 31.5 billion as dividends for the year ended December 31, 2022, from its investment in MTN Uganda. NSSF Uganda, East Africa’s largest national savings fund by value, invested Ushs 360 billion in December 2021 to acquire 1.98 billion shares in MTN Uganda following its Initial Public Offer (IPO) in December 2021. We first got wind of Panya bot, by then at the developmental stage back in May on Telegram.
