After writing about the specifications, price and where to buy the Tecno Spark 7p , we decided to get a unit of the device days ago for a review. We put the device to use and have had time to form a more solid opinion based on first-hand experience.

Build, Design and Display
For this review, we got hold of the Magnet Black color of the Spark 7p. The other colors, however, includes the Alps Blue, Spruce Green, and Summer Mojito. The Spark 7p is made from plastic and is neither heavy nor light. The back of the device has this really large ‘Tecno Spark’ label – which is a drawback for me, honestly.
The back also houses the finger print sensor, as well as the 16 mega-pixel triple camera setup with quad flash. On the left, there is a 3-in-one tray that house two 4G /LTE Nano SIMs and an SD card. On the right side of the device is the volume rocker and power button.
The microphone, micro USB port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack are all located at the bottom of the device. Surprisingly, this device comes with dual speakers, the regular one sits right next to the micro USB port, while the other speaker doubles as the phone’s earpiece speaker.
The Spark 7p is an IPS LCD, 6.82-inch, Dot Notch, 720×1640 pixel display, and you get 90Hz refresh rate by default for smoother scrolling/animations, however, there’s an option to switch to 60Hz (for longer battery life), and another option to automatically switch between them.
Software, Performance and Battery Life
The Tecno Spark 7p is powered by the mediatek Helio G70 chip clocked at 2.0 GHz octa-core, and is supported by a 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It has got the Android 11 OS and is based on the HIOS 7.6. I was able to use this device to play some CPU demanding games and also switch between apps without lag.
I was also able to run apps simultaneously using the split screen feature and didn’t experience any slow down, as well.
The battery department is one I think the Spark has always excelled in. The Spark 7p comes with a 5000mAh battery that should take you through a full day – depending on your usage.
It took this device just over three hours to fully charge (from 0% to 100%). That wasn’t a surprise because this device comes with a 10w charging brick. I played FIFA Soccer (a graphic/CPU demanding game) for roughly 4-hours and still had well over 20% of battery life left. What it didn’t have in charging speed, it made for in durability.
Also, I assure you, you’ll enjoy the cinematic experience when gaming and when you bing-watch on this device.
Standout Features
1.BluetoothAudio Share
The bluetooth audio share feature on the Spark 7p lets you share audio/video playing on your device with different bluetooth speakers. For instance, you could play a song from your Spark 7p on a bluetooth speaker, and a redmi earbud , simultaneously.
2.Peek Proof
The Peek Proof feature lets you hide a portion of your phone screen from prying eyes. For instance, if you are in a public bus or a train and don’t want the person sitting next to you viewing your screen, you can use the peek Proof feature to blur out sensitive parts of your screen..
3.Anti-theft Feature
The Anti-theft feature is designed to ring an alarm when the device’s charger is disconnected or when the earphone is unplugged. The alarm continues to ring out loud until you unlock your phone – which is a great anti-theft feature, I must say.

Blootware
Disappointingly, Transsion have yet to do anything about blootware and Ads on its devices. The Spark 7p comes with a lot of them – messing up your notifications. And while some can be uninstalled, others can not.

Above are a couple of shots I took with this device, you might want to check them out for yourself to see what the device has to offer.
The rear camera of the Spark 7p is a 16 mega-pixel triple camera with Super Night Mode. While the front facing camera is an 8 mega-pixel tear-drop camera.
The images we took with the Spark 7p’s 16 mega-pixel main camera were really decent. In video recording, you can shot up to 2k in 30fps
Overall, I think the camera quality on the Spark 7p device is decent, but the fact is, it is not a camera-centric device. You should check out the newly released Tecno Camon 17 if you need a smartphone really good cameras.
Verdict
In my opinion and haven used this device for days, the new features, improved specifications (especially the gaming chipset) and price point makes the Spark 7p a worthy upgrade from its predecessors – Spark 5 and Spark 6.
